• A common onboard compute architecture helps teams reduce re-integration as they move from data collection and benchtop development to mobile testing and supervised pilots.
Trossen Robotics, a provider of physical AI hardware and development platforms, today announced that standard configurations of its new Rivet mobile manipulation platform and Workbench benchtop development system will ship with the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin 64GB production module as factory-integrated onboard AI compute.
Rivet and Workbench arrive with the computer, thermal management, power delivery, networking and sensor connectivity integrated by Trossen Robotics, reducing the systems engineering normally required before teams can begin collecting robot data, evaluating learned policies and building real-world applications. By using the same Jetson architecture across both platforms, teams can maintain a more consistent edge-computing target as their work moves between stationary and mobile embodiments.
Rivet is designed as a mobile manipulation development platform for teleoperation, robot learning, multimodal data collection and supervised application pilots. It combines configurable manipulation arms, an omnidirectional mobile base, vertical reach adjustment and integrated sensing in a compact system intended for real-world development environments. Workbench brings the same core compute, sensing and networking architecture to a compact stationary format for repeatable data collection, policy development and application evaluation at a table or workcell.
HIGH-PERFORMANCE AI COMPUTE AT THE ROBOT
At the center of both platforms is Jetson AGX Orin 64GB, the highest-performance production module in the Jetson Orin family. The module delivers up to 275 TOPS of AI performance with power configurable between 15W and 60W. It combines an NVIDIA Ampere architecture GPU, 64GB of LPDDR5 memory, deep learning and vision accelerators, high-speed interfaces and multimodal sensor support for multiple concurrent AI application pipelines.
This onboard performance gives developers a strong foundation for running robotics application pipelines at the edge, including perception, sensor processing, multimodal inference, learned-policy evaluation, telemetry and operator interfaces. Processing closer to the robot can also reduce the need to continuously move high-bandwidth sensor data to remote infrastructure during development and operation.
AN INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION
“Physical AI teams should not have to rebuild the computer, power, cooling, networking and sensor stack every time they move from a benchtop experiment to a mobile robot,” said Matt Trossen, founder and CEO of Trossen Robotics. “Making NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin 64GB standard in both Workbench and Rivet gives developers one capable onboard AI foundation from their first data episode through mobile application development, with the performance and memory to keep more of the robotics workflow on the robot.”
Because Jetson AGX Orin is supported by the NVIDIA JetPack SDK and NVIDIA Isaac ROS, developers can use NVIDIA CUDA-accelerated libraries, models, tools and ROS 2 packages alongside Trossen Robotics’ open SDK, drivers, robot descriptions and simulation resources. The combined environment is intended to help teams move faster from robot bring-up to data collection, skill development, evaluation and real-world validation.
